Quick pulse for Saturday, November 7. Wednesday’s rally lasted one day. Thursday the AI trade broke. Friday the jobs report made a December rate hike look more likely. Bitcoin traded like a tech stock through all of it.
Thursday: the worst day since Liberation Day#

Source: Reuters for index closes, The Motley Fool for stock closes.
The Nasdaq fell 5.52% to 24,315 on Thursday. The S&P 500 lost 4.36%. The Dow dropped 3.44%, about 1,833 points. All three had their worst day since April 2025, per Reuters and CNBC.
The Nasdaq is now more than 10% below its Oct 6 record. That makes it an official correction.
The damage was in chips:
- Nvidia fell 9.26% to $181.60 and lost more than $440B in market value. It is now down for the year.
- AMD fell 17.26%. Broadcom fell 10.43%.
- The Philadelphia semiconductor index dropped more than 12%.
- The Magnificent Seven lost more than $1T combined, per CNBC.
- Tech was the worst S&P sector, down 7.30%, its worst day since March 2020.
The trigger, per Reuters: fear that a Democratic Congress, elected in places where voters already oppose new data centers, slows the AI buildout. Qualcomm’s weak forecast added fuel.
Friday was calmer. The Nasdaq bounced 1.09% and Nvidia 2.77%.
Bitcoin moved with the Nasdaq, not with gold#
Bitcoin dropped about 5% to roughly $76K, wiping out its post-election gains, per Mando Minutes and The Token Trenches. About $1.27B in crypto positions were liquidated, $1.1B of it longs. US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $430M of outflows on Thursday. Ether fell about 7%.
Project Mayhem’s read: Bitcoin acted like a high-beta risk asset, not digital gold. Wintermute’s Jasper De Maere says $80K has to come back before it looks healthy, per The Token Trenches.
The politics are not helping. Crypto groups spent about $176M on the midterms and still woke up to Democrats running both chambers, per Milk Road. Kalshi traders give the CLARITY Act a 6% chance of becoming law before 2027.
Friday: jobs came in hot#
The US added 165,000 jobs in October. Economists expected around 59,000–65,000. Unemployment fell to 4.1%. Hourly pay rose 0.4% for the month and 3.1% for the year, per BLS via CNBC.
September was revised up from 29,000 to 60,000. Reuters says economists now expect a Fed hike in December. The next clue is Tuesday’s October CPI.
A strong economy used to be good for risk. Right now it means a tighter Fed. That has not been good for crypto.
InvestAnswers is shopping the wreckage#
InvestAnswers called Thursday a big short-term washout. His heatmap showed 14 of his core names deeply oversold on daily and hourly charts. His read is that a rebound looks to be in play.
He is acting on it:
- Lam Research. He doubled down near $200 with long-dated options. Lam’s board approved a fresh $25B buyback and a $0.33 quarterly dividend on Nov 5, per its press release. Lam shares jumped about 10.8% Friday morning, per StreetInsider.
- Astera Labs. He bought around $180–190. He notes BMO started coverage at Outperform with a $375 target.
- Micron. After a roughly 22% weekly drop, he calls anything under $700 a deal.
- SpaceX. His standout rebound pick, bought twice in 24 hours.
To fund it, he sold more of his STRC position to cut margin. One valuation chart he flagged: the S&P 500 at about 18x forward earnings, Nvidia at about 13x.

OpenAI’s cyber model gets its own risk tier#
OpenAI released GPT-6 Cyber on Nov 5 to approved security teams. It rates the model Critical for cybersecurity, the top level in its own framework.
The numbers OpenAI published:
- Working exploits for 948 Linux kernel vulnerabilities, more than five times GPT-5.6 Sol’s 166 on the same setup.
- 81 new high-severity Firefox bugs. Mozilla has shipped fixes for many.
- 48.5% on ExploitGym, up from 32.1% for GPT-5.6 Cyber.
Superintelligence puts the Linux run at about $1,279 per exploit. OpenAI’s advice for everyone else is simple: patch your machines and rescan your code with each new model.
