Quick pulse for Thursday, November 5. The post-election rally was real. So was the split under it. Hyperscalers ripped. AI infrastructure got smoked. Oil had its worst day in weeks. And the first full stress test of Binance after the hack showed how much money wanted out.

The AI trade tore in half#

Wall Street closed Wednesday with a broad bounce. The Dow jumped 1,569.40 points, or 3.03%, to 53,356.12. The S&P 500 rose 1.58% to 7,688.62. The Nasdaq added 1.44% to 25,736.51, per CNBC.

Look inside the AI basket and the story flips:

  • Winners. Amazon jumped about 7%. Microsoft rose more than 6%. Apple 6%. Alphabet about 4–5%. Meta about 2%.
  • Losers. CoreWeave closed down about 10%. Iris Energy about 11%. Nebius about 7%. Marvell about 7%. Nvidia slipped about 1%. Tesla about 2%. Power names tied to the buildout sold too: Eaton about −9%, GE Vernova about −10%, per CNBC’s Investing Club.

InvestAnswers framed the same split in a live stream: hyperscalers ripping while AI infra gets smoked. His take overnight, citing Dan Ives, is that a drop in SpaceX and Tesla misses the bottleneck. Whoever owns compute and power still wins. He points to SpaceX standing up a third data center in 66 days and Colossus spinning up a 100K H100 cluster in 19 days.

His Nov 4 portfolio snapshot stays heavy AI: about 68.5% AI, 22.3% crypto, 7% in STRC cash. The top eight AI names are about 66% of the book. BTC, IBIT and MSTR together are about 16.6%. He sold 20% of STRC. The crumb positions are about 2%.

Brent just lost almost $17 in four sessions#

Bar chart of ICE Brent settles Nov 1–4 2026: $111.61, $104.77, $103.60, $94.62 — two crash sessions

Tuesday’s Digest still had Brent at $103.60. Wednesday it settled at $94.62, down 8.67%. WTI closed at $88.12, down 8.3%, per CNBC. That is the second hard slide this week. Monday to Tuesday already took Brent from $111.61 to $104.77.

Early Thursday, Brent was near $93.65, a fourth down day, on bets that the Iran war risk is cooling, per CNBC. The Strait of Hormuz story is still the swing factor. Markets are pricing de-escalation faster than politics usually delivers it.

Binance’s first stress test after the hack#

Milk Road and CoinDesk put numbers on the reopen. In the first 46 hours after withdrawals came back:

  • $10.97B left
  • $5.69B came in
  • Net outflow: $5.28B, about 3.1% of pre-hack holdings

Little of that cash showed up as a clear win for rival exchanges. Binance says proof-of-reserves is back and about 98% of the hacked funds are replenished. The flow still says customers wanted an exit ramp the moment they could use one.

Tencent says an AI helped train the next one#

Tencent launched Hy4 on Nov 4. The company says the model has vision and computer-use skills, and that open weights and system cards are coming in the days after launch. Its research framing centers on Hyra 2.0, an RSI-style setup that trains smaller models with the same architecture. Treat the viral “beat the original on 6 of 8 tests” line as secondary reporting until Tencent’s research page states it plainly.

That lands next to another search fight. OpenAI’s Adam Fry told Big Technology that ChatGPT’s search-like query volume is now roughly one-fifth of Google’s. Google, for its part, has been tying Gemini features to school Search accounts. The distribution war is no longer theoretical.

Quick hits#

  • Equity perps are live. CFTC Acting Chairman Selig said on Nov 3 that perpetual futures on individual equities “can begin trading for the first time on CFTC-registered exchanges.” The same day, Capital Markets Alliance, backed by Cboe and Citadel Securities, sued the CFTC in SDNY.
  • Apple’s 10-K. Apple warned that AI agents may act in “unintended or unpredictable ways,” including unauthorized access, altering code, sending messages and completing transactions, per its latest Form 10-K and CNBC.
  • Miner-to-AI hangover. InvestAnswers notes the CoinShares miner and digital-power ETF was up 72% in 2025 and is down about 23% this year. One CEO line he flags: they left bitcoin for a market “somehow more volatile than bitcoin.”
  • US debt. Total public debt outstanding was about $40.55T as of Nov 3, per Treasury FiscalData via market reports.
